Dr. Lauren Kilroy-Ewbank joined Smarthistory as the Dean of Content and Strategy in July 2020. Before that, she was an Associate Professor of Art History at Pepperdine University. Much of her research, publications, and teaching centers on digital art history, with particular attention to digital visual storytelling, the biases of metadata, decolonial methods, and the ways in which encountering art in a digital environment alters how we understand it.
